I agree with Dalaran in that you seem to have too many ranged units compared to your melee units. I do keep gelt close for the leadership buff and I make sure none of my units get flanked.Ĭould someone please explain to me how i'm supposed to play empire because I don't get it. I have specced and researched all leadership buffs I can but it makes no difference. I have tried Franz to get the reiksguard unit however it's not possible to hammer and anvil when your anvil routs on first contact. This is the case in all battles unless i outnumber the enemy 3-1 and even then we route at the same time about 15 sec after first contact. However even that one chain route the same instant the first enemy units hits one of mine. So far i've tried close to every possible build and the one that worked best was 12 crossbows, 1 mortar, gelt, 1 greatswords and 5 spear and shield units. But it's completely impossible to win a fight with empire units on hard. I also currently play an orc campaign on very hard and that's quite tricky. I played a dwarf and Orc campaign both on hard and it was a cake walk.
